Thursday, 13 December
AGU will host a Night at the Museums for attendees and their families to enjoy free after-hours open houses and museum tours led by docents and science experts from 7 – 10pm at select world-class Smithsonian Museums. Get your wrist bands in advance!

New this year and part of AGU’s Centennial, there are a variety of public lectures around Washington, D.C. ranging from a screening and panel discussion of National Geographic’s documentary film FREE SOLO to the search for life on Exoplanets at the Carnegie Institution for Science, to a Hydrology AGU-NAS panel on science and water policy at the National Academy of Sciences.

Since most of AGU staff is local to the Washington, D.C. area we have together an interactive map with our recommendations for places to eat, visit and caffeinate.
Check out AGU’s new building
Sign up for tours of the newly renovated AGU Headquarters, which allows for the highest level of sustainability possible and adheres to our net zero energy goals. The building showcases the wonder and impact of Earth and space science through an exhibit area that is open to the public. Join the tour to learn about our pursuit of net zero energy through the impacts of more than 20 technologies on a limited urban footprint, which include solar photovoltaic arrays, living green wall, municipal sewer heat exchange system, and more.
To sign up for a tour, you will need to visit the on-site registration area, Hall A of the convention center to update your badge.
