Over the past few years, AGU has been making great strides in reducing our carbon footprint and opting for a more sustainable approach to how we work, where we work, and how our programs operate, including the Fall Meeting.
Fall Meeting 2018 is an important step in achieving that vision.
To present more sustainable meetings, AGU continues to work to reduce our printed materials. This year, in addition to requiring attendees to request a printed copy of the program book so we can eliminate waste, we are streamlining its content and reducing its size to cut down our overall paper consumption. This year, the Meeting Summary Chart, or schedule, will not be included in the program book. Instead, attendees attendees will be able to purchase a printed Meeting Summary Chart when they register online for a fee of $10; the Chart can be picked up onsite in D.C.
While we are reducing our reliance on printed materials, we are also enhancing and improving our digital platforms to provide the information needed to navigate the meeting. In addition to having many of the Fall Meeting 2018 materials available online in advance of the meeting, we have also made improvements to our mobile app and itinerary planner, so attendees can build and seamlessly sync their schedule.
AGU is committed to implementing sustainable practices that will lessen the environmental impact of our programs and events on the planet. Fall Meeting 2018 in Washington, D.C. will stand for many important things, including sustainability. Please join us.
