Abstract Submission Overview

The 2018 Fall Meeting is a unique opportunity to highlight the latest discoveries, insights, and advances for our global community of Earth and space scientists, and at the same time to raise appreciation of the value and impact of our science among world leaders in Washington, D.C.

The 2018 meeting also marks the beginning of AGU’s Centennial in 2019, a time to reflect on the meaning of a century of discovery and to look ahead to the essential contributions that our science will make to understanding our world, informing policy decisions, sparking innovation, and protecting the health and welfare of people everywhere.

We invite abstract submissions for the 2018 Fall Meeting in Washington, D.C. The online submission tool will open in mid-June and close on 1 August.

Scientific Program Released and Abstract and Sessions’ Scheduled Days/Times Notifications Sent: 1 October 2018

All proposals must be submitted via the online submission website.


First Author Policy

First authors can have a maximum of one (1) contributed and one (1) invited abstract or two (2) invited abstracts. The only exemption to this policy is the submission of one (1) additional contributed abstract to a GeoHealth (GH), Education (ED) or Public Affairs (PA) session. AGU Membership

The first author, including invited authors, MUST be an AGU member. Coauthors or presenting authors who are different than the first author are not required to be an AGU member.

  • Note to Members of Cooperating Societies: Members of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), European Geosciences Union (EGU), Japan Geophysical Union (JpGU), and Mineralogical Society of America (MSA) may join AGU or submit abstracts to the sessions co-sponsored by their respective societies. AMS, EGU, JpGU, and MSA members (who are not AGU members) must contact the AGU Member Service Center by calling +1 800.966.2481 (toll-free in North America) or +1 202.462.6900 by Wednesday, 18 July 2018 to request log-in credentials in order to submit an abstract to their societies’ co-sponsored sessions.
