Societal Impacts and Policy Sciences (SIPS)

The Societal Impacts and Policy Sciences (SIPS) Focus Group is looking to reinvigorate its members and become more active. Join SIPS leadership at a Fall Meeting luncheon where you can meet SIPS leadership and other like-minded scientists, share your ideas for events and programs, and discuss the future work and direction of the focus group.

If you are interested in attending and being part of the SIPS focus group, we strongly recommend that you take our short online survey to share your thoughts on science policy and societal impacts.

The event discussion will be led by SIPS leadership Bill Hooke, Linda Rowan, and Tim Cohn, as well as AGU Public Affairs Director Lexi Shultz. They will set the stage by providing an overview of the SIPS statement of purpose and goals. Results from the SIPS member survey will then be presented. After the short presentation, attendees will break into small discussion groups with SIPS leadership. Discussion questions will be provided based on the survey results, focusing on what types of events, activities, training, or programs would be of benefits to SIPS members. The conversation will help  SIPS leadership form a plan for future programs.

We hope to see you at this unique opportunity to help shape the future of SIPS!
