Development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is expensive and time consuming. What is their pedagogical value, who is the audience, what is their impact on higher education, what is their cost, and can they be utilized on campus? Two geoscientists, whose MOOCs were developed at the University of Illinois and distributed through Coursera, review their experience and open the floor for a massive open offline discussion of the topic.
