The Author Resource Center serves as the Fall Meeting on-site info hub to provide authors with information about publishing their papers in AGU publications. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions about what goes into a good scientific paper. There will also be staff available to answer questions about publication fees, AGU style, LaTeX and figure preparation as well as how best to use GEMS. Brochures about publishing with AGU, the most common copyediting mistakes, and manuscript preparation instructions will also be available.

The Author Resource Center is sponsoring our highly popular seminar, “A Good Scientific Paper: 101.” This seminar will cover all aspects of preparing your paper for publication.

Child Care – KiddieCorp

KiddieCorp provides a professional children’s program at the meeting. Fees are $10 per hour per child for children ages 6 months through 12 years, and $12 per hour per child for children under 6 months. Children must be registered for a minimum of two (2) consecutive hours per child per day. A Mothers’ Room is also available. The South and West Donor Lounges welcome AGU officers, Board members, Council members, AGU benefactors and donors, and 2011 Fellows, Medalists, and Awardees. The lounge offers a quiet atmosphere to start the morning, relax in between sessions, and check e-mail. Hospitality includes light breakfast and refreshments throughout the day, and access to computers, a printer, and Wi-Fi. Fellows can pick-up their materials in the West Donor Lounge.

Editors’ Resource Center

The Editors’ Resource Center serves as the Fall Meeting on-site info hub where AGU Editors and Associate Editors may relax, get a cup of coffee, catch up on e-mail, or hold informal meetings. While there, Editors and AEs will experience an environment conducive to collaboration with their counterparts on other AGU journals. It is also where they can share approaches to various editorial challenges and develop new collegial relationships. Internet/Wi-Fi connection, a computer, and a printer will be available.

Staff will be on hand with individual journal publishing statistics for their formal editorial board meetings. They will assist Editors and AEs with any questions or problems and provide information about upcoming editor searches, developments in the AGU journal publishing process, and news about the HQ Publications Division.

If you have special needs for your poster presentation, we suggest you bring those supplies with you to the meeting. Your book proposal will be welcomed by geopress! All book proposals are formally reviewed, with final decisions based on scientific merit, the needs of the community, and the ability of AGU to publish the book at an affordable price.

AGU‘s geopress® imprint welcomes proposals for scientific works and books relevant to career development and advancement, the applications of science for a broad audience, and all aspects of the ever evolving Earth. New and returning authors will experience increased acquisition and marketing support through direct staff efforts and promotion and distribution arrangements with major publishers in the field.

Bring your book ideas to the geopress area in the AGU Marketplace. The geopress staff will be on hand daily to consult with prospective editors and authors about the proposal process and take recommendations for topics.

Guests

Registered attendees may also register a guest or spouse at a charge of $25. A guest is a spouse, friend, or adult child (18 years old and older) who is not working in a geophysical science related occupation or field. A colleague or associate working in a related geophysical sciences field or studying geophysics in school may not register as a guest. Registered guests may not attend the scientific sessions; however, they may go to the Exhibit Hall and attend and purchase tickets to social events at the advertised rates.

Lost and Found

A Lost and Found will be located at the Message and Information Booths during session hours. At the end of each day, articles will be brought to Central Security on Moscone West, Level 1. The Moscone Security Control room can be contacted by dialing 4021 on a white courtesy phone. Detailed information on hours and location can be found under “Message and Information Booth.”

AGU has teamed with AlphaGraphics, an FSC-certified San Francisco printing company, to print posters for Fall Meeting attendees.  Orders placed through AlphaGraphics will be available for pickup at the Poster Printing Services booth in Moscone South. AlphaGraphics can also assist with on-site printing needs. At least 24 hours are needed for on-site orders.

The earlier you order, the more you’ll save – and you have until 25 November to upload your poster file!  To take advantage of AlphaGraphics’ discounts, place your order by 13 October for $40 off or by 14 November for $20 off.  A 50% deposit is due when placing your order and the balance is due upon pick-up.  After submitting the order, a confirmation e-mail will be sent within 24 hours, including detailed information about uploading your poster.  To qualify for the special rates, the poster file must be uploaded no later than 25 November.
